Finisar, a supplier of active cables has declared that its Quadwire FDR active optical cable, which offers superior-bandwidth performance with four lanes in a standard QSFP+ form factor at 14 Gb/s for each lane caters to the 4x16x fibre channel and InfiniBand 4xFDR and applications.
The company will be displaying the Quadwire FDR cable along with its complete product line of active cable products at the SC Conference 2011.
With the increase in speed of supercomputing clusters, the datacenter and high performance computing (HPC) markets require high-speed networks to support the bandwidth requirements. These cables use 14 Gb/s vertical cavity surface emitting laser (VCSEL) technology to offer advanced data throughput. The FDR cables are compact, have less weight and are flexible to help in deployments involving high densities. At SC'11, Finisar will exhibit its complete range of active cables such as Quadwire for 40GbE, Laserwire for 10GbE and InfiniBand QDR, and C.wire for 100GbE and InfiniBand QDR.
Finisar is a universal technology pioneer for fiber optic subsystems with its elements capable of high-speed voice, video and data communications for telecommunications, networking, and storage, wireless, and cable TV applications. It has also been offering critical optics technologies for over 20 years to system manufacturers to cater to the increasing demands for network bandwidth and storage. Based in Sunnyvale, California, USA the Company’s R&D, manufacturing sites and sales offices are wide-spread.
