Nikon Metrology has launched an airtight, anti-electrostatic stereoscopic microscope. The SMZ-745 microscope has an anti-mold finish, which ensures that electrostatic discharges and contaminants such as water and dust do not damage the samples.
The microscope is best suited for high humidity, high temperature environments where solid contaminants are common. A zoom range between 0.67X and 5X can be optimized using the Greenough optical system, which allows for up to 7.5X zoom ratio. When coupled with auxiliary objective lens and an eyepiece, a magnification range between 3.35X and 330X can be obtained. A total reflection prism allows for high-contrast and bright images. A trinocular optical head and a working distance of 115 mm make it ideal for digital imaging and monitoring.
Every function of the SMZ-745 is customizable and is as efficient in the production environment as in the laboratory. The eyepiece inclination has been set at 45O and can achieve an electrostatic decay of 1000v to 10v in less than 0.2 seconds. With a JIS/IEC waterproof grade1 certification, the SMZ-745 also has been designed to make it ideal for use in environments where extended hours of use are common.
Its applications include use in PCB assembly, embryology/IVF, semiconductor fabrication, quality control and medical device manufacture, geology, botany, entomology, cell biology, plastics and MEMS.
