Wehrenberg Theatres, a 15-theatre, family-owned-and-operated U.S. theatre circuit, has selected NEC digital cinema projectors for replacing 35mm technology at its cinemas.
NEC Display Solutions of America is a designer and provider of large-screen LCD displays and digital cinema projectors.
The NC1200, NC2000 and NC3240S model NEC digital cinema projectors are to be deployed at 210 screens of Wehrenberg theatres across the Midwest. Installation is going on and 65 digital systems have already been deployed. The NEC projectors are also Digital Cinema Initiatives compliant, which would help in capitalizing on future growth opportunities.
Cinedigm, a provider of services and technology for transforming theatres into networked, digitalized entertainment centers, is to take care of the configuring and implementing the VPF agreement for conversion of Wehrenberg theatres to digital technology. The financing for the deployment is being provided by NEC Financial Services. Ballantyne Strong, a digital cinema projection equipment and services company, is to provide the 4K digital projection systems, Network Operations Center and maintenance services following the projector installations.
