Civcom Launches Multi-Rate Optical Transceiver for Data Optical Networks

Opto-electronic module developer and provider, Civcom, has released the industry’s first multi-rate tunable optical transceiver for data optical and DWDM telecom networks.

The MLR transceiver is designed to suit SAN applications and supports 1 to 10 Gbps rates. It enables the use of the same system line card even when the channel capacity of the network increases. This flexible feature reduces additional investments.

The transmitter/receiver is a long-reach widely-tunable module that has the flexibility needed to support the growing SAN market. The MLR interface of the transceiver uses a tunable laser for covering the entire C-Band. It is compatible with I²C and 300-pin MSA interfaces. The Negative or zero- chirp Mach Zehnder indium phosphate modulator in the transceiver allows good performance across the C-Band under OSNR load.

Civcom’s MLR transceiver enables line card manufacturers and system vendors to offer bitrates, channel flexibility and a broad range of applications.
