Universal Display, Moser Baer Sign Deal for White OLED Lighting Products

Universal Display and Moser Baer Technologies have signed a technology and licensing deal to develop energy-efficient white OLED lighting products.

As per the deal, Moser Baer will buy Universal Display’s UniversalPHOLED materials and will also license the company’s patented PHOLED and OLED technologies. The UniversalPHOLED materials will be used for manufacturing white OLED panels.

Universal Display offers advanced OLED materials to lighting and display industries, while Moser Baer develops DVDs CDs, and Blu Ray discs. The company is a US subsidiary of Moser Baer India.

Last year, the US Department of Energy awarded $4,000,000 to both the companies to design and develop a white OLED lighting production plant in the US Universal Display will also work with Moser Baer in a five-year program to aid Moser Baer in the development of white PHOLED lighting solutions.

Universal Display’s President and CEO, Steven V. Abramson stated that the company is happy to strengthen its relationship with Moser Baer. The deal will help Moser Baer to speed up the development of phosphorescent OLED lighting products. Universal Display’s PHOLED materials and technology are energy-efficient and cost-efficient and provide significant environmental benefits. Combination of these features will result in energy-efficient white OLED lighting products, Abramson said.

The pilot production plant is an important phase in establishing a production base for white OLED lighting solutions in America. The panels will be provided to lighting developers to help boost the market for novel white OLED lighting solutions.
