South Korea-based LK Technology has established a new LED lighting assembling facility in Kaunas, Lithuania. The company plans to invest €30 million and generate about 100 employments over the coming four years.
Investuok Lietuvoje’s Managing Director, Mantas Nocius, stated that the new facility is Koreans’ second project in February 2011. Another South Korean firm, LK Green Energy, has launched a similar plant in Taurage.
The Kaunas is near to both the sea and the airport and the presence of an important logistics centre enabled the establishment of the LED lighting plant.
Rasa Incerauskaite, LK Development’s Deputy Director, commented that the Kaunas facility would manufacture next-generation lamps, outdoor and indoor lighting devices and LED lighting systems. The company will also partner with South Korean firms such as Samsung. Commercial production of the products would commence in April 2011 and the products would be marketed to Western Europe, the Baltic States and Lithuania, he added.
