Black and McDonald has secured a contract worth $3,199,500 to replace another 2,500 HPS (high-pressure sodium) lights with LED lights across the Nova Scotia province in Canada. Bill Estabrooks, the Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal Minister, has declared the funding for the project.
LED Roadway Lighting (LRL), based in Amherst, will produce and deliver the LED luminaires.
Chuck Cartmill, Chief Executive Officer at LED Roadway Lighting, commented that the company’s energy-saving luminaires will offer enhanced lighting on highways as well as reduce maintenance expenditures. Currently, the company has over 250 utility and municipal deployments in 10 nations. He further said that the Nova Scotia project would demonstrate the company’s innovative technology to the world.
Donald Hiltz, Black and McDonald’s Division Manager, said that the company is happy to play a central role in Nova Scotia’s LED lighting project that is aimed to decrease the operating expenditures of the province. Utilizing locally-produced lighting solutions also benefits local workers, he added.
