According to the report, panel manufacturers are designing LCD products with minimal specifications for developing markets such as Russia, China, Brazil and India compared to developed markets. The color saturation of the LCD solutions can be in the range of 65%-68% NTSC vs. 72%-75%, while the brightness can be 350-400 nits vs. the 450-500 nits range.

LCD TVs are facing maturity in certain developed countries as LCD TVs are reaching 200 million shipments annually. The roadmaps of panel makers show two important tendencies, one is a transition to high-end functions to drive the demand for replacements in developed countries. The second is panel makers are establishing a market segment with minimal costs and specifications to support new demands from developing countries. Panel makers including BOE, Chimei Innolux, AUO and LG Display are investing in the developing TV market segment.
