3D Engineering Solutions (3DES) announced that it has offered 3D laser mapping and laser scanning services to a Fortune 100 utility company and delivers electric power to over 5 million users in the United States.
3DES, by utilizing sophisticated laser scanning technology, developed an in-depth 3D map of the utility’s infrastructure. This offered the utility company a better solution for the conventional 2D data collection methodology.
3DES, which provides sophisticated CAD modeling, data collection and 3D laser scanning services, demonstrated the precise, quick and comprehensive detail by long range scanning. The Fortune 100 company contracted 3DES to carry out 3D laser mapping in more than 19 installations.
The Project Engineering Manager of 3DES, Rob Glassburn stated that they were able to collect the 3D data at close to million points per second in few days. Glassburn added that the company’s potential to integrate and collect 3D data by using numerous types of laser-based systems offers them enhanced versatility and allows them to meet the demands of customers.
