AppliedMicro, a company specializing in computing solutions, has rolled out a 100G Muxponder for Optical Transport Networks (OTN). The multiplexer transponder can multiplex 40 and 10 G client signals into a 100 G OTN signal.
The solution facilitates network operators to expand the internet capacity as much as 10 times to support the increasing bandwidth demand created in view of cloud computing traffic, video conferencing, social networking and HD video and mobile.
The 100G Muxponder combines AppliedMicro’s PQ60T 10-40G mapper/framer and TPO404 OTU4 multiplexer with an Application Programming Interface (API). In addition, the solution supports various signal combinations including 10 and 8 G Fiber Channel, OC192/OC768 SONET/SDH and 40 and 10 G Ethernet. The multiplexing solution offers interoperability with main FEC schemes across long-haul optical network infrastructures.
AppliedMicro offers comprehensive reference solutions for 100 G systems and blades to minimize risk and enable the deployment of 100 G technology by network operators and equipment vendors.
The 100G OTN series includes the TPOT424 and the TPOT414 100G transponders designed for metro/core Optical Transport Networks systems. The devices are based on the SoftSilicon programmable technology and support OTU4 (ITU-T) and 100GE (IEEE) interface standards.
