ICON, a company specializing in lighting systems for commercial applications, has established a new office in Hong Kong, China as part of its expansion strategy.
President of Icon, Michael Goeller stated that the company wanted to make its presence in Asia even though it is a small firm employing only 35 people. The new office would operate with the company’s Chinese factories to offer information and quality checks, he added. The cooperation with Chinese factories will eliminate faults that accounts for 20% of the overseas production cost.
ICON expects development in jobs including accounting, procurement, engineering and research and design at its headquarters in Rhode Island in view of the new Chinese office. The firm’s team members are involved in the development of tailor-made and cost effective LED lighting devices.
ICON has launched its innovative cost-effective lighting system called the Satellite 2120. The lighting system, featuring a LED spotlight, makes green technology economical for its clients.
ICON plans to use its US and overseas production units in a more balanced way based on effectiveness, expenditure, quality, difficulty and the requirements of its clients. The firm is also maintaining its partnership with US producers during the product design stage to get preliminary information about material expenditures and the production process.
