Greenlight Selects Zhone’s MXK Platform to Deploy GPON Network

Zhone Technologies, provider of FTTx network access solutions, announced that Greenlight Communications has selected its MXK multi-service access node (MSAN) solution to develop the Gigabit Passive Optical Network (GPON) network in Dunnellon, Florida.

Zhone's GPON solution will allow cost-efficient triple-play services to the customers of Greenlight across Dunnellon that includes businesses and residents.

The MXK MSAN solution offers enhanced service consistency and network quality and sophisticated connectivity for Dunnellon. The solution will also accommodate telecommuting, video surveillance, and data virtualization for generating revenue and for encouraging the ongoing economic development.

The MXK platform is a carrier-grade, fully redundant all-IP platform and features high-quality switching, scalability and density potentials. It provides a maximum non-blocking capacity of 3,600 100 Mbps GPON subscribers. It also supports GPON and Active Ethernet and allows Greenlight to configure the network with improved efficiency and versatility. The platform also provides Greenlight with multi-access points and allows the utility to cost-effectively and seamlessly integrate the broadband technologies such as 10G GPON.
