Novaled, a provider of OLEDs for display applications, has demonstrated white top-emitting units with 30 lm/W power efficiency at 1,000 cd/m² initial luminance, and a lifetime that surpasses 50,000 hr.
The structure of the white top emitting OLED resembles OLED products developed using metal substrates that offer benefits such as bended designs, mechanical stability, and heat dissipation. The metal substrates pave the way for low-cost roll-to-roll development.
Novaled developed the top emitting OLED device by utilizing the PIN OLED technology with its host and doping materials, in combination with SFC Korea’s blue fluorescent emitting material. The device also incorporates a light extraction material layer and an ITO-free top contact, to improve its efficiency. It also decreases the color shift over a diverse viewing angle, and can be rarely identified by the naked eye.
The long lifetime of the device transforms into continuous unit functioning for over 5 years. The device, by using Novaled’s doping technology, attains high power efficiency. It also attains high CIE color coordinates and a diverse emission spectrum.
