Acuity Brands Announces Acquisition of Winona Lighting

Provider of lighting control systems and luminaires, Acuity Brands has acquired Winona Lighting, a Minnesota-based provider of outdoor and indoor, and architectural lighting products. Winona Lighting’s luminaires are suitable for landscape, asymmetric, custom, and decorative lighting applications. Winona Lighting provides service to the institutional, retail, and commercial markets.

The products from Winona Lighting use the advanced LED technology to provide energy-savings, durability, and high performance. Winona Lighting will continue to operate in its present facility, while focusing on key competencies and customers.

Acuity Brands’ CEO and Chairman, Vernon J. Nagel stated that the acquisition would strengthen the company’s presence in the design sector. He added that the benefits of the acquisition also include the design integration with latest technologies including lighting controls, solid-state lighting, and performance optics.

Winona Lighting’s CEO and President, Steve Biesanz noted that this association would help in leveraging the capabilities of Acuity Brands in advanced technologies, to support lighting solutions’ development for the architectural design community.
