OKI Data announced that its latest digital LED printers have received the 2010 Good Design Award in Japan. The company has made substantial changes to the compact, high-speed printers by utilizing the LED technology. The high-definition C510dn and C530dn LED printers have the lowest height possible for a color printer. The printers also have an automatic duplex printing functionality.
The image drum unit, present in the printers, has been modified so that only one unit is required to print all the colors. In addition, the waster toner unit has been reengineered so that only one box is needed for all the colors. All these modifications have led to a 40% decrease in volume and 10 cm deduction in height, when compared to the traditional models. The changes allow the printers to be integrated into any kind of workgroup environment.
The 2010 Good Design Award is a complete product design award given in Japan. The products are adjudicated by more than 70 editors, architects In 2006, the Good Design Award was won by OKI Data for its C3000 printer series. The C3000 printers were the first series to include the new Solid, Simple Smart (S3) product design strategy.
