Supplier of optical fiber processing products, Vytran, has launched a new precision optical fiber splicer for specialty, large-diameter and standard fibers.
The LFS-4000 optical fiber splicer is a sophisticated process tool that is suitable for producing fiber assemblies for research and development, fiber-based instrumentation, aerospace and defense, medical device, sensing and fiber laser applications. The company will display the optical fiber splicer in upcoming demonstrations in Canada, Europe, and the US.
The LFS-4000 fiber splicer utilizes Vytran’s proprietary filament fusion technology to develop low-loss splices on specific fibers with the diameter range of 125-900 ì. The splicer can be utilized for specialty and standard fibers including non-circular shapes, highly stressed fibers, photonic crystal fiber, polarization maintaining fibers and doped fibers.
The optical fiber device is equipped with a PC-based laptop software that has two screens. One of the screens is customized for product development and allows the entire functions of the unit, while the other permits the basic operator interface for large-scale production.
