Ciena announced that the France-based Bouygues Telecom has selected its CN 4200 FlexSelect Advanced Services Platform for the expansion of the latter’s transport network and broadband DSL aggregation, throughout France. Bouygues Telecom has deployed Ciena’s platform also to enhance the capacity to handle huge volumes of mobile traffic.
Bouygues Telecom is a provider of DSL and fixed line services, as well as, high-speed mobile broadband service in France. The company has a large 3G mobile network that covers most of the population in the country. It required a reliable, cost-efficient network infrastructure solution to meet the demand for advanced mobile data and broadband services. Bouygues Telecom chose the CN 4200 as the packet-optical transport infrastructure solution for the mobile and fixed networks.
Ciena’s CN 4200 provides a wide range of interface and service options, and handles any need of the transport network. In addition, the CN 4200 FlexSelect advanced services platform enables Bouygues Telecom to support new data, video and voice services economically, for residential and business subscribers. The platform features a dynamic optical programmability that is powered by the FlexiPort technology. This programmability offers easy reconfiguration and scaling of the transport network as per the demand, and thus supports the future capacity and service requirements of the operators.
