New Interface Allows Productive Workflow Between Light and Electron Microscopes

Manufacturer of optical systems and medical devices, Carl Zeiss, has unveiled a new, advanced hardware/software interface that links both scanning and light electron microscopes and allows a productive workflow in correlative microscopy.

The Shuttle & Find Interface

The interface, known as Shuttle & Find, allows users to recollect the areas of interest of a specimen in an electron microscope, earlier recognized in a light microscope.

The interface integrates both structural and functional information, magnifies the details and allows fast and accurate overlay of electron and light microscope images. The process’ time duration is very minimal. The Shuttle & Find interface has a transferable specimen holder, which allows convenient transfer of specimen between the electron and light microscopes. The interface also has a software tool, which controls all the operations of electron and light microscopes.

Carl Zeiss’ President and Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Ulrich Simon stated that after introducing the Shuttle & Find interface for material analysis, the company will offer a productive solution in correlative microscopy.
