Provider of fiber-optic products for wireless and broadband markets, AFL Telecommunications has announced two fiber-optic fusion splicers, the FSM-100P and FSM-100M.
The splicers have been designed for polarization maintaining (PM) fibers splicing. The new ARCMaster series of fusion splicers provide new technologies to meet the increasing splicing requirements for R&D, laboratory, manufacturing, and factory applications.
The fusion splicers have a split v-groove clamping system that can accommodate optical fiber in the range of 60 - 2000µm. The Interrelation Profile Alignment of the splicers aligns and splices various types of PM fibers, properly. The splicers feature multiple electrode and fiber positioning techniques that offer flexibility for splicing LDF.
The special arc calibration technology of the splicers enables transferring high-end splicing applications easily from R&D to manufacturing. The splicers integrate features of both warm and cold splice imaging to provide high precision for estimation of splice loss. Also, the fusion splicers have a low profile design that eradicates fiber catch points.
Fujikura’s General Manager for Splicer business, Kiyoshi Nakajima stated that the fusion splicers are customizable for various splicing requirements, and they offer consistent and reliable performance.
