A business division of Dow Advanced Materials, Dow Electronic Materials held an inaugural function to open its new OLED production facility in Korea. The OLED Electronic Materials unit will provide advanced emissive materials to the emerging OLED market.
Dow Advanced Materials’ Chief Executive Officer and President, Jerome A. Peribere, and regional government officials from Cheonan City and South Chungchong Province attended the opening ceremony.
Dow’s OLED manufacturing unit is based in the Cheonan Industrial Cluster for Foreign Investors. In addition to producing emissive materials, the Cheonan unit also handles production operations for the company’s semiconductor technologies business.
Over the last decade, Dow has made significant investments in the Korean electronic materials market. The company has established the Dow Seoul Technology Center in Gyeonggi Province and expanded the production capacity for trimethyl gallium. The Dow Seoul Technology Center will concentrate on semiconductor and flat-panel display technologies.
Dow Electronic Materials’ Group Vice President, Dominic Yang, stated that the new facility allows them to meet the demands of the growing OLED market, specifically in the East Asia and Korea. Yang informed that the OLED manufacturing unit complements the company’s plan to develop new trimethyl gallium facility and research and development center in Korea.
