European Police Agency Uses Aware’s Biometric Services Platform

Aware announced that it has supplied its BioSP (Biometric Services Platform), an off-the-shelf SOA-based software platform, to a prominent police agency in Europe. The agency will use the BioSP plasform for a number of centralized biometric applications.

One biometric workflow application is exclusively used for screening and converting the digital fingerprint records into their domestic format. The fingerprint records that cannot be converted are manually edited by using an Aware software application. The fingerprint records are obtained from sources such as the FBI and INTERPOL.

The BioSP software allows more than 200 police facilities to access the fingerprint records that are stored in the system. The BioSP distributes the search-and-view application, developed by Aware, to the investigators. The investigators can then use the application to trace the fingerprint image records of the criminals. The BioSP also produces PDF documents, which contain the images of the fingerprint records. Investigators can print the fingerprint images in familiar layouts.

The BioSP is a secure biometric platform, which performs a wide range of tasks on a server. It provides a number of off-the-shelf software modules and a workflow engine. The modules are utilized for a number of tasks such as biometric matching, transaction routing and management, image storage and data quality reporting, among others.
