New Research Report on Green Laser for Projection Applications

ReportsandReports has included a new research report on the green laser market for projection devices. The market for green laser is very much segmented in various niche applications such as military, medical and laser shows.

Lasers are the perfect light source in pico-projectors and other display technologies such as Head up Display and Head Mounted Display, as they have the capability to provide high saturated colors in the broadest gamut. The laser also offers focus-free operation and the expected higher wall-plug efficiency that will have an impact on the energy consumption for battery operation.

However, in 2009 the launch of LED-based pico-projector had a slow take-off in the market, resulting in the sale of just 300,000 units. This can be attributed to the relatively high price when compared to the product’s poor brightness. Meanwhile, in the same year it was published that the blue laser diodes can be replaced with the green wavelength. Such direct-emission semiconductor laser is expected to be available in 2011 or 2012 for applications in the projection displays.

This research report from ReportsandReports covers a complete analysis on the green laser diode market for projection applications, including key metrics. The report also includes a snapshot on the GaN material industry and the role of leading laser device manufacturers.
