Echelon announced the completion of first installation of high bay lighting system with its LonWorks control networking technology in Singapore. The technology enables lights to be dimmable and two-way communicating. The new high bay lighting system has been fitted at the Sony Supply Chain Solutions Singapore (SSCSS) warehouse.
High bay lighting systems are generally used in high-ceiling buildings such as large retail stores, convention centers, warehouses, athletic facilities, grocery stores, airport hangars, factories and auditoriums.
The newly installed lighting system features the energy efficient ROMlight lights that are individually dimmable. These lights offer more than 50% of energy saving, while offering higher light quality. The lights also provide real-time check of energy usage, lighting fixture’s health and maintenance costs.
The high bay lighting system was installed by Fluematic Engineering Services. The company installed just 147,400 W metal halide lighting fixtures along with ROMlight acrylic reflectors, replacing 210 fixtures. Every new fixture features LonWorks networking technology that is power line based. The technology enables to perform dimming and remote control at system level as well as individual light level.
The lighting system also includes the Echelon’s i.LON energy manager that will control the segment and offer system level operations such as scheduling. Further, the energy manager will help as a medium to be connected with other software applications and building systems.
The managing director of Fluematic Engineering Services Paul Ang said that SSCSS is very glad about the energy savings. With all the advantages of the new lighting system, the return on investment is expected in three years, he noted.
