Altek has designed a new cellular phone that features a 14 megapixel camera with 3x optical zoom. The new camera phone called the Leo is an upgraded version of the company’s previous phone model that features a 12 megapixel camera as well as 3x optical zoom.
The Leo features a Xenon flash, a light emitting diode (LED) and a high-definition video recording. The camera phone also includes rendering, sensor, Wi-Fi and 3G features. Keys beneath the smartphone label and the touchscreen denote that the Leo may be supported by the Android operating system.
Special phone models such as the Sony Ericsson Satio and the Samsung Pixon12 featuring 12 megapixel cameras are making their entry into the market. Mobile phones with 8 megapixel cameras such as the Incredible, X10, Evo and Galaxy have become more common in the high-end smartphone segment. However, camera phones that have substandard software will not make an impact regardless of the number of pixels.
The Altek Leo will be introduced at the CommunicAsia conference on June 2010.
