X-Rite, Incorporated (NASDAQ: XRIT), the world leader in color management, measurement and communication technologies, announced that SKY Brazil, the largest High Definition Pay TV operator in Latin America is currently deploying thousands of the award-winning i1Display2 systems from X-Rite as part of what is believed to be largest mass TV calibration project in the world.
Coinciding with the launch of several new HD Channels, SKY Brazil, is making professional calibration services available to its 1.8 million subscribers. Eduardo Belham, Service Innovation Director at SKY Brazil explains:
“We believe that professional TV calibration greatly enhances viewers’ overall watching experience: color values are more accurate, the skin tones are more natural and lifelike, shadow and highlight detail are maximized, and films more accurately represent what their directors intended. Moreover, optimizing the settings can improve the efficiency of your TV and extend its life: a professionally calibrated set can reduce its energy consumption by as much as 50%,” Belham said.
Together with X-Rite, two other U.S.-based companies were involved to provide the calibration tools and training: THX Ltd., the entertainment technology company founded by filmmaker George Lucas, is providing video calibration training to SKY Brazil’s team of technicians. SpectraCal, a software company based in Mukilteo, WA is providing the calibration software.
For the calibration program SKY Brazil is equipping its technicians with thousands of the award-winning i1Display2 systems from X-Rite. Designed to quickly and easily calibrate and profile all types of LCD and CRT monitors, i1Display2 delivers unparalleled professional calibration to obtain accurate color on every TV screen.
“X-Rite’s i1Display2 is sold both to consumers and to professionals in industries where color is mission-critical for use in calibrating all types of monitors. But in recent months, it has become our biggest seller for calibrating televisions," commented SpectraCal’s CEO Derek Smith.
"We're thrilled to see our hardware recognized for its precision and selected for what is essentially the largest video calibration project in the world," said Dr. Iris Mangelschots, Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing at X-Rite.
