FiOS TV Now Offers More Than 18,000 VOD Titles per Month, Including 2,400 in HD -- Nearly Twice That Advertised By the Largest Cable Company
Video that's in demand is available on-demand from Verizon FiOS TV. Recent programming additions to the company's all-fiber-optic FiOS TV service have increased its Video on Demand (VOD) collection to more than 18,000 titles per month. That's nearly twice the VOD offering from the country's largest cable provider.
In recent months Verizon also has added some 1,000 new high-definition titles to FiOS TV VOD -- expanding its collection by 70 percent -- to give subscribers a choice of more than 2,400 monthly VOD programs in HD.
"When it comes to watching what you want, when you want, FiOS TV is the clear choice over cable," said Tricia Lynch, vice president of video-on-demand programming at Verizon. "Our all-fiber network delivers the ultimate VOD experience, with stunning picture and sound, pure HD, and a wide variety of programming for everyone in the family."
Just last month, Verizon enhanced FiOS TV VOD with new HD on-demand content from HBO, Cinemax, Starz and The Movie Channel, along with an additional 140 hours of movies on-demand from Encore.
And there's more.
FiOS TV recently added new on-demand content from Mav TV, a network targeting men that features wrestling, fishing, roller derby and gaming; and new content from Sony with "Minisodes," -- which offers condensed versions of previously broadcast, full length, TV shows -- and "Crackle," which offers television shows and original series.
In addition, FiOS TV VOD will soon include BBC America, with a selection of original programming from the British network; high-def on-demand content from IFC, WE TV and AMC; and Halogen, a new TV network that targets socially conscious individuals with empowering entertainment.
Verizon FiOS TV's VOD offers everything from popular movies and concerts to exercise and kids programming. FiOS TV customers can access on-demand content simply by pressing the "VOD" or "On Demand" button on their FiOS remote control, by using the menu on FiOS TV's Interactive Media Guide, or by selecting VOD channel 900.
