Navitar Inc., a manufacturer of precision optical and opto-electronic systems, introduced today their new 50 mm large format machine vision lens ideal for use with full frame 11 and 16 mega pixel sensors. The 50 mm Raptar lens has a robust mechanical design that exceeds industry requirements for MTF, relative illumination, and low distortion that is required of systems with high cost, large format cameras.
The Raptar large format lens covers a 43 mm diagonal sensor with a field of view of 50 mm and focusing range of 0.5m to infinity. It features a manual iris and focus control with positive, single point focus and iris locks. Lens aperture range is f/2.0 – f/22.0 and its angular field is 46.0° diagonal and 37.0° horizontal.
Craig Fitzgerald, Vice President of Product Development for Navitar, comments, “The new 50 mm Raptar was designed to withstand the most demanding industrial machine vision applications. We are proud to offer a rugged, compact lens with specifications that exceed other lenses in the market today”.
The Raptar lens is widely used in applications such as veterinarian digital X-ray, food and plastics sorting and inspection, film, paper and plastics defect inspection, lumber/wood inspection, and solar wafer and cell inspection. The lens comes standard with a F-bayonet, however, Navitar also offers M42 or C-mount options.
