The disruptive femtosecond laser SOPRANO of Cycle GmbH was named one of three finalists in the category “Biophotonics and Medical Engineering”. It is designed for the emerging deep‐tissue imaging technique called 3‐Photon‐Microscopy.
The SOPRANO is the only laser on the market, which can provide the two main wavelengths (1300 and 1700 nm) at the same time with sufficient pulse energy at optimum pulse repetition rate and pulse duration for such an application. Additionally, the laser can be used for other microscopy techniques like SHG‐, THG‐ and 2‐Photon Microscopy. Here, for example, optical virtual human skin biopsy can be examined without the need for sample preparation: label free. The picture shows a typical microscope image of the epidermis visualized by THG contrast, which was taken with a multiphoton microscope using a SOPRANO as its excitation source. In addition to the benefits of deep‐tissue imaging, the innovative technology of the SOPRANO keeps the cost to only a fraction of what other potential solutions on the market would cost.
The winner of the Innovation Award will be announced at Laser – World of Photonics 2019, which takes place in Munich, Germany from June 24th to 27th.
Cycle GmbH will also exhibit at this trade show at booth B2.400.
