Bridgelux, a producer of LED lighting technologies and solutions, has recently declared that ZON LED has selected Bridgelux’s RS LED arrays. These products will serve as the LED-based light source for ZON LED’s billboard lighting retrofit solution, giving rise to simplified upgrades for the most common North American billboard lighting fixtures.
The proprietary retrofit technology of ZON LED is capable of generating high quality of light with significant quantities and maximum efficiency, thereby benefiting outdoor advertising customers. Approximately 5000K high quality light is being delivered by the LED-based lighting technology. The sign graphics will be more prominent and attractive due to the light’s higher color rendering producing bright, realistic colors. Over 6000 metal halide lighting systems is currently being retrofitted by ZON LED for one of the largest North American outdoor advertisers. Furthermore, in another three months, the company intends to retrofit 4000 in the United States and Canada.
The existing billboard lighting systems utilize 1 to 4, 400 W lamp fixtures to deliver adequate billboard illumination. With Bridgelux RS LED arrays, ZON LED developed a modified retrofit solution. Light beam can now be directed onto the billboard panel, minimizing light pollution caused by conventional metal halide lighting systems. An annual energy consumption of 4000 kW has been observed in 2 metal halide fixture-conventional billboard lighting system, based on the 12 h per day and 7 day per week operation. Relatively, the ZON LED retrofit module utilizes only 1200 kW a year with 72% annual energy costs savings. The LED-based lighting systems have extended life time and do not require lighting maintenance.
