Avago Technologies is a pioneer in delivering analog interface components for industrial, communications, and consumer applications. It has declared the launch of two series of compact LEDs that occupy minimal space when auto-focus auxiliary flash functionality is designed for digital cameras.
The new, compact ASMT-FJ70 and ASMT-FG70 devices offer considerable amount of brightness needed for auto-focus operation.
The demand for thinner digital cameras is being furnished with the launch of compact, eco-friendly ASMT-Fx70 LEDs of 3.6 (L) by 3.2 (W) by 3.4 (H) mm package mounted on a surface. In order to perform better, the LEDs have a non-diffused, transparent lens for an increased luminous intensity within a narrow radiation pattern, thereby generating consistent, smooth, optical performance for accurate auto-focus functionality. The ASMT-FG70 devices are the first green colored, compact auxiliary flash LEDs in the industry; whereas the ASMT-FJ70 devices are orange in color.
The Director of marketing for the optoelectronics products at Avago, Francis Khor says that with the progress of various advancements, the size of the digital cameras is being reduced, besides having excellent capacity and functionality. The Avago ASMT-Fx70 LEDs is a manifestation of this efficiently compact approach, with its small design footprint and unprecedented auto-flash performance.
The Aluminum Indium Gallium Phosphate (AlInGaP) material technology is employed by ASMT-FJ70 devices that generate a 12º viewing angle. The ASMT-FG70 devices utilize Indium Gallium Nitride (InGaN) material technology and present a 14º viewing angle; with high light output across an extensive range of drive currents. In addition, the two novel, compact devices feature, operating temperature range of -40° to +85° C, Lead (Pb)-free and RoHS 6 compliant package, and are being shipped in tape and reel to facilitate pick and place manufacturing.
