Channel Systems has achieved a contract from Resolve Optics to deliver a compact, novel, lightweight version of the 80-200 mm focal length UV Zoom lens. These lenses are compatible with their Digital Cerenkov Viewing Device (DCVD).
Ultraviolet Cerenkov light is emitted by spent nuclear fuel due to the interaction of gamma rays with electrons in pond water. The UV Zoom lens is integrated with DCVD that presents a potential system, wherein Cerenkov image of spent fuel is captured. This is followed by comparison and assessment. The inspectors are being benefited by this innovative system as it serves as an effective tool for non-intrusive validation of spent nuclear fuel.
The wavelength of DCVD UV Zoom lens can be adjusted to observe long distance nuclear fuel assembly, positioned through 10 m of water and 13 m from the lens. The UV zoom lens is capable of operating even under 10 - 55ºC. Precise remote settings for focus and zoom operations can be achieved through miniature motors. The design was in-built with a filter slide that facilitates the switching function of lens between visible light of 400 to 700 nm and UV of 270 - 350 nm. However, the lens need not be re-focused. The telescopic focus makes the lens capable enough to image objects from 3 m to infinity.
Without refocusing, the lens is capable of generating a high image resolution with low distortion all through the zoom range. A lockable C mount fixes the lens safely in its place throughout the operation.
Resolve Optics is a dynamic expertise company. It serves the optical industry by providing quality optical lenses and products. The company also intends to offer novel designs.
