Samsung Electronics, a pioneer in information technology and digital consumer electronics has introduced the Optical SMART Hub, the SE-208BW optical disc drive (ODD) that can be employed for accessing and supporting media files including MP3s, pictures, movies, and data files.
Access to this novel Optical SMART Hub can be facilitated through smartphone, tablet, and Smart TV. This Hub functions as a personal cloud, extending the storage on devices. Writing a DVD or CD is made easier with Optical SMART Hub, eliminating the need for a notebook or desktop. Some of the benefits of new Optical SMART Hub include utilization of wireless, Ethernet, USB connectivity, development of scalable support for storage with external USB, construction of a Wi-Fi home cloud system and assists PC, mobile devices and read/write devices. An external ODD is integrated with a wireless module through the SE-208BW, augmenting the end-user benefits. The Optical SMART Hub serves as a Wireless AP router, altering broadband Internet services.
The SE-208BW features DLNA Apps including Allshare for TV’s with data-sharing standard Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA) compatibility.
The SE-208BW functions as a digital media server for home entertainment in association with PCs, TVs, and mobile devices. The drive supports any home entertainment system with a sleek, glossy surface enclosed in a thin case. It provides back-up for Dynamic DNS, facilitating the drive to work as a private server. The drive is designed to standardize with key operating systems such as Mac OS and Win7. The drive consumes less power, providing lead-free regulations, thereby minimizing the use of hazardous materials.
The company anticipates advancing its technology further. The market awaits the launch of an app for iPhone with Android app for the Optical SMART Media Hub, from Samsung. Also, a Smart TV app and Kindle app will soon be launched.
