OLEDWorks has declared that RG&E has offered them economic development funds of about $60,700 for electrical infrastructure improvement at their recently built research & development lab at Rochester, NY-based Canalside Business Park.
OLEDWorks has transferred eight employees into their newly renovated currently operational 5,000 sq.ft. R&D facility on Lyell Avenue and will hire 12 more workers as well as invest in more equipment in the coming year. This Research and development works are undertaken in this advanced laboratory, which is intended to produce energy efficient lighting, based on organic light emitting diode (OLED) technology. Chief operations officer of OLEDWorks, John Hamer stated that the company is delighted to have the support of RG&E in the construction of the laboratory. The economic development manager at RG&E and NYSEG, Joe Rizzo said that the company is glad to assist the expansion of OLEDWorks, which helps in increasing the number of jobs in Rochester. NYSEG and RG&E anticipate investing almost $40 M in economic development funding and rating incentives to businesses from September 2010 through December 2013.
RG&E, an affiliate of Iberdrola USA, serves 303,000 natural gas customers and 367,000 electricity customers in a nine county region located on the City of Rochester. OLEDWorks was established in July 2010 with a responsibility to produce and promote advanced OLED lighting. Their team includes inventors and leaders in the OLED field.
