Life Technologies has introduced an advanced platform called the FLoid Cell Imaging Station, which unlike fluorescence microscopy can be operated easily by all researchers irrespective of their technical knowledge.
The FLoid Cell Imaging Station captures superior quality pictures within five minutes, which can be e-mailed or downloaded or directly printed using its integrated printer to deliver supporting data for user study. It eliminates the high cost and complexity related with conventional fluorescence microscopy. The completely integrated bench top equipment features an intuitive user interface for rapidly detecting and confirming fluorescently labeled cells with superior picture quality.
Using Molecular Probes reagent selection guides and protocols of the FLoid Cell Imaging Station, users can make their samples before imaging. The pre-loaded reference equipment offers the correct reagents that need to be used and the protocol that needs to be followed based on the study of a specific biological activity or cellular structure for obtaining better performance on the tool. The data can also be offered on a mobile application for Android and Apple iOS operating systems.
Life Technologies’ President of Molecular and Cell Biology, Peter Dansky stated that the FLoid Cell Imaging Station is a first-of-its-kind system that offers simple and highly efficient fluorescent cell imaging with superior image quality. The novel system allows researchers to capture and record biological activities at an unprecedented speed and simplicity, Dansky added.
Jordan Yaron, Graduate Research Associate at Arizona State University’s Biodesign Institute, stated that the system’s software interface is really user friendly and it is advantageous for a core lab due to its unbelievable simplicity.
