Optogan’s new production location has been opened by the German Federal State of Bavaria’s Minister of Economic Affairs. Landshut’s LED chips have been considered to be important for this century’s lighting technology.
Significance of LED lighting will be more in future as green technology is gaining importance. The energy usage should be more efficient for this green development, which can be done by utilizing high-performance LEDs that save up to 80% of energy. The operating life of a LED lamp is up to 50,000 h. Lack of mercury and lead is an added benefit of LEDs.
Optogan’s managing director has stated that the company has found a perfect infrastructure in Landshut for efficient LED chip production of high volume. The company is developing its LED luminaries and lamps for residential, indoor and outdoor lighting throughout the globe.
The previous Hitachi semiconductor factory has become the base for the new production site and it has provided a 4,000 sq m of clean room area. Enormous investment and employment of up to 100 staffs have formed the structure for the production activities of the company. A primary LED chip production of more than a billion per year and new commercial manufacturing methods signify that the company is geared up for a good future.
In addition, the Landshut location has become the source for the company’s worldwide sales activities. The European markets are the core business of the company, but now it is becoming well-known on a global level.
