G4S Technology which specialises in systems integration and project management of electronic security systems and communication networks will design and construct underground and aerial optical fibre network for a distance of 90 mi. for the Health Information Exchange of Montana (HIEM).
The company will build this network starting from Libby to Kalispell for the purposes of healthcare and education related to healthcare.
The total project which costs $3.3M commenced in August 2011 and is likely to be completed by August 2012. The HIEM is a healthcare network for rural areas and is being managed by two community centres that are funded by the government and five private hospitals. The main purpose of this association is to share and exchange patient and other medical information beyond technological and geographical barriers and thus help in enhancing telehealth in the areas of North Central and Northwest Montana. The HIEM also strives to provide reasonable and stable bandwidth that will support its efforts in healthcare.
According to Bob Sommerfeld who is the President of G4S Technology, the company’s network will enhance information sharing, healthcare administration, healthcare education and general safety of the public. G4S Technology has already completed installation of fibre optic networks for up to two million miles across 200 rural and urban locations. It has also installed more than 1,500 electronic security systems in the US, Middle East, Central America, Asia and Europe.
