Analog Bits Introduces SONET Grade Low-power IP

A low-power Interface IP and precision clocking macros provider, Analog Bits has added to its SERDES product range, a low-power SONET Grade Programmable IP.

With the addition of the SONET Grade IP, the SERDES IP offering has been expanded to include ATM applications and switches for office telecommunication equipment. The SERDES will now be capable of supporting OUT-1, SFI 4.2, SPI 4.2, SONET/SDH (OC3/12/48), STM (1/4/16), SDI-3G and SDI-HD / SDI-SD protocols in addition to standard protocols such as the XAUI, SATA and PCI Express.

By utilizing devices based on standard logic process, the pin-configured macro provides unparalleled input jitter tolerance, input sensitivity and a low output jitter. A low compact form factor and pin count configuration makes the SONET Grade IP suitable for various wire-bond and flip-chip packages. Additionally, serial client interfaces connect to the SFPs directly and are capable of operating across a wide frequency range in order to support telecom, datacom and video protocols ranging from 125 Mbps to a maximum of 12.5 Gbps.

The Executive Vice President of Analog Bits, Mahesh Tirupattur stated that Exar has employed the SONET Grade SERDES IP to add leverage to its products. The Executive Vice President and CTO of Exar, George Apostol stated that strict development requirements were fulfilled in the development and delivery of its first any-port, any-service single-chip Muxponder solution.
