BroadLight, a provider of fiber access processors, has declared that it has partnered with National Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI) of Korea.
This collaborative alliance ensures that both the companies would be involved in installing a completely standardized XGPON, ITU-T G.987 in Korea. ETRI and BroadLight are utilising their present ONT and XGPON OLT technology for interoperability testing throughout. The test scheme is derived from the FSAN’s plans to introduce the first global XGPON interoperability event. Since BroadLight is an active member of the FSAN it plays an important role in preparing the test plan.
Youngsun Kim, VP of Honam Research Center at ETRI says that the partnership of BroadLight with ETRI is a significant move in developing XGPON technology in the Korean industry. He said that by associating with BroadLight, ETRI can guarantee that XGPON’s initial commercial trial will be favourable.
