Ecopower and Stein Industries have collaborated to deploy a LED lighting solution in Covent Garden Market. Some merchants in the market stated that the EcoStein LED lighting solution has reduced spoilage in vegetables and fruits. It has also reduced lighting and air conditioning costs.
Covent Garden Market’s General Manager, Bob Usher stated that he has not been received any complaints of headaches after installing the LED lighting solution. Food Scientist of the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture and Food, Robert Blenkinsop mentioned that the absence of UV beams in LED lights and cooler temperatures could facilitate in slowing down the spoilage of vegetables and fruits.
Stein Industries’ President, Dan Steinhaur stated that the companies are aspiring to promote the lighting solution across North America. He added that the LED light would enable office towers, supermarkets, and shopping malls to decrease energy consumption.
The EcoStein lighting solution incorporates an automatic daylight harvesting solution that utilizes sensors to reduce or raise the light levels. It has wireless controls and can be altered for various zones of the building by using an iPad.
EcoPower’s President, Brian Webber mentioned that the LED lighting solution offers greater energy-efficiency than the fluorescent and high-intensity discharge lighting.
