Kodak Receives FDA Approval to Sell Laser Projector Systems

The FDA (Food and Drug Administration) has announced the approval for selling Kodak laser projector systems to cinema exhibitors without requiring individual show operator variances.

The projector systems utilize Kodak Laser Projection Technology and deliver vivid 3D and 2D images with wide color gamut and high dynamic range for theaters.

The laser projection technology brings enhanced image quality to theater screens. It substantially reduces costs to digital projection in cinemas and offers brighter 3D viewing by using low-cost optics and durable lasers.

Kodak’s COO of the Digital Cinema Division, Les Moore stated that the FDA approval validates the company’s efforts to ensure a safe and reliable laser projection technology. Moore added that the laser technology would have a positive ripple effect in the cinema world.
