Datacard announced that it has introduced a new laser engraving unit that will allow issuers of financial cards or secure IDs to engrave text, bar codes, grayscale photos, and images.
The laser engraving unit for the MX6000 card issuance solution surpasses the card security and throughput standards set by financial institutions and government agencies.
The laser engraving module also provides various features such as microprinting, tactile elements, MLI (horizontal tilted) engraving, and CLI (vertical tilted) engraving for identification purposes. It conveniently integrates with the MX6000 solutions and is utilized with various system modules such as Datacard DuraGard lamination, smart card personalization, magnetic stripe encoding, and color printing. The unit’s compact design does not need cooling or external power sources and assures convenient operation for generating cost-efficient cards.
Datacard’s Senior VP of Global Marketing, Russell St. John stated that the module’s compact design makes it ideal for security conscious card issuers in service bureaus, financial institutions, and government organizations. He added that the design also enhances the appearance and security of financial cards and IDs.
