Carl Zeiss has added a new product to its microscope portfolio called the Axio Lab.A1 microscope that can perform materials testing under reflected light.
This unique feature makes the upright microscope ideal for standard laboratory applications in quality control, metallograpy and for assessment jobs in production units.
The Axio Lab.A1 performs microscopic testing of metallographic samples and specimens consisting of polymers or other substances. The microscope can also detect contaminations, cracks and surface and structure quality of specimens.
The Axio Lab.A1 features a 50 W halogen lighting for industrial applications. The halogen lighting is ideal for brightfield reflected illumination, darkfield and differential interference contrast in Polarized light and circularly polarized light (C-DIC). Substantial amount of lighting is necessary for these contrasting techniques. The interference contrast is a unique feature, which provides extra data about the samples such as scratches or small flaws that are not detectable in darkfiled or brightfield applications.
The Axio Lab.A1’s 22 mm field of view provides maximum visibility of the sample to the users. All objective lenses in the regular magnification range are placed on a 5-position turret that avoids adjustments when performing experiments. The microscope also features a large range of ergonomic tubes and binocular photos, and a 4-position reflector turret.
The Axio Lab.A1 is compatible with conventional AxioCam camera series, especially with AxioVision image processing software and AxioCam ERc 5s camera.
