Supplier of IR and visible LEDs, Opto Diode has acquired a semiconductor manufacturing company, International Radiation Detectors (IRD).
The technology from IRD complements the abilities of Opto Diode as an international supplier of IR and visible LEDs and photodiodes. In addition, IRD designs semiconductor solutions that identify photons in high-energy particles, x-rays, and UV range.
Opto Diode will include the entire IRD operations in its California-based facility. Furthermore, the company provides an entire range of IRD products that are NIST-approved for silicon photodiode transfer standards within the 5-250 nm spectral region. Opto Diode is also an ITW Photonics Group member and a division of ITW.
Opto Diode’s General Manager, Russ Dahl stated that the company is delighted about the new acquisition and is looking forward to provide IRD’s radiation detectors for measuring soft x-ray, extreme ultraviolet, ultraviolet, and visible photons.
