Kyocera Manufactures One Million Solar Module

Ceramics manufacturer, Kyocera announced that its Mexico-based manufacturing facility has achieved a record milestone of producing one millionth solar module. As part of the celebration, over 400 employees attended the event and signed the back of the solar module as a mark of celebration.

Kyocera plans to achieve a global annual production capacity of 1,000 MW by 13 March 2013. The company has its operations in Tijuana and San Diego as well as production facilities for solar modules in the Czech Republic, China and Japan. The company’s production plan would enable it to provide 3.5 kW solar-electric systems to around 285,000 homes annually.

Over 20 facilities of Kyocera around the globe have installed their individual on-site solar-electric generating systems. For example, a 100 kW rooftop system and a 214 kW Solar Grove parking lot have been installed in Tijuana and San Diego, respectively.

Kyocera Solar’s President, Steve Hill stated that the production of the one-millionth module reiterates the company’s commitment to deliver sustainable energy.
