Electro-Optic Company Lightwave Logic Receives First Patent Approval

Manufacturer of prototype electro-optic demonstration systems, Lightwave Logic has received the approval of the United States Patent Office for the patent titled, ‘Tricyclic Spacer Systems for Non Linear Optical Devices.’

The company is currently developing the Next Generation Electro-Optic Polymer Material Platform for applications in optical computing and high speed optical data communications.

Lightwave’s Chief Executive Officer, Jim Marcelli stated that the company is pleased with the notice of allowance for its patent. He added that the company is waiting for the allowance of its other patents.

Lightwave Logic’s Chief Scientific Officer, Dave Eaton noted that the tricyclic spacer is distinctive to the company’s method of stabilizing non-linear organic structures. Eaton continued that a tricyclic spacer is scientifically described as an ancillary group connected with the nonlinear optical chromophore’s core. The nonlinear optical chromophore avoids undesired dimerization that can annihilate the polar orientation necessitated for a better nonlinear response, commented Eaton.
