Crestron Launches Fiber Variants of DigitalMedia 8G Products

Crestron, a developer of automation systems, has launched the fiber variants of the DigitalMedia 8G receiver/room controller, matrix switcher output and input cards, and transmitter/switcher.

DigitalMedia 8G technology provides one-wire transport on non-expensive multimode fiber, without hardware repeaters, compression, or signal scaling. USB keyboard/mouse control, Ethernet, DisplayPort, DVI, HDMI, and uncompressed digital signals are easily distributed for a maximum of 1000 feet. All communications and signals are controlled over one multimode fiber strand, enabling easier and faster installation.

DigitalMedia 8G provides long distance and high-speed transmission of Ethernet and data, in addition to the digital and analog AV signals. It also offers 8 GB pipeline for every output and input, crossing the throughput of regular Ethernet networks. The DigitalMedia 8G keeps the native audio format and video resolution of each signal to assure a lossless, pure signal path. It matches the output of every source to the chosen displays to deliver the optimum output. The technology allows users to enjoy the advantages of digital content, such as video games, 3D content, and HD video.
