Bezeq, a broadband service provider in Israel, will now be able to provide faster Internet access at 200 Mbps, over the present copper cables, in Israel. The company has deployed the Very High Speed DSL (VDSL) platform of Nokia Siemens Networks. The improved bandwidth enables simultaneous viewing of online games, telemedicine, and many high-quality IPTV channels.
Nokia Siemens has offered a complete VDSL platform that incorporates software, hardware, and services such as network roll out and planning. The VDSL platform features Multi Service Access Nodes (MSAN) to support broadband services, such as Ethernet, xDSL, and POTS. The platform also offers smooth migration of conventional voice customers to the Next Generation Network of Bezeq that will aid in increasing the voice revenues for the operator.
Bezeq’s VP of Engineering, Yuval Keinan said the next-generation network provides a big competitive edge to the company. Keinan added that the VDSL platform assures high performance over the current copper cables. Nokia Siemens’ Head of the Israel customer team, Eitan Idelson commented that the VDSL platform enables Bezeq to increase delivery of high-speed bandwidth services.
