Supplier of electro-optic and electronic components, GigOptix has entered into a distribution agreement with Midoriya Electric, for RF and optical sales in Japan. Midoriya Electric distributes electronic instruments and components. The collaboration allows GigOptix to develop in the semiconductor, PC, consumer, datacom, and telecom markets in Japan.
GigOptix’ VP of Sales, Jay de la Barre stated that the presence of Midoriya allows the company to expand their optical market reach, and to offer broad expertise to meet the new market segments, including computer and customer devices. Barre added that GigOptix is excited to work with Midoriya in Japan.
Midoriya Electric’s President, Makoto Kuroha remarked that the company is pleased to be the distributor of GigOptix. Kuroha noted that optics would soon replace the copper interconnect technology, and Midoriya was exploring for a leading partner in the optical field. Midoriya will use its engineering resources and strong sales to expand the consumer base in various markets, Kuroha said.
