Opnext to Demonstrate 40G Optical Transceiver Modules at ECOC 2010

Provider of next-generation optical products, Opnext will perform live demonstrations at the European Conference on Optical Communications (ECOC) event, to be held in Turin, Italy. The demonstrations will highlight the major optical technologies including a 100G CFP functioning at an OTU4 line rate, and a 40 GbE transceiver module that provides high throughput. The company will also present a separate display showcasing its comprehensive portfolio of 40G modules.

Opnext will demonstrate an error-free OTU4 transmission at a line rate of 111.8 Gbps, over a single mode fiber measuring 10 km. This demonstration includes an Opnext 100GE/OTU4 CFP module that interfaces to the Anritsu MD1260A 40/100G Ethernet Analyzer for OTU3 traffic simulation. The company will also showcase a 40GBASE-LR4 transceiver that transports 40 GbE, still running OTU3 traffic.

The 40G modules available from the company ranges from 40G 300-pin VSR, MSA transceivers, which deliver decreased power dissipation for high-density applications, to 40G DQPSK and DPSK transponders designed for long haul, regional, and metro applications. Opnext will also display a 40G PMDC 300-pin module that enables DPSK signals to endure high levels of optical polarization mode dispersion.
