A team of scientists from the United States has revealed that energy-saving lighting technologies offer a potential solution towards a better standard of living. The researchers have found that the SSL (Solid-State Lighting) technology, based on semiconductor LEDs, could increase light consumption and promote better quality of life.
The scientists have calculated the amount of future light and energy consumption by viewing the past behavior patterns. They made a conclusion that Solid-State Lighting, with its low-cost production and operating expenditures, could influence human productivity and energy consumption.
The research findings will benefit both local authorities and governments, who are devising new incentive programs and energy consumption regulations to utilize advanced energy-efficient light sources.
According to the researchers, increased energy cost that impact both energy consumption and human productivity can be reduced by improving the lighting efficiency.
The research report has appeared in the IOP Publishing’s Journal of Physics D: Applied Physic.
